April 14, 2021 by MomSmartIdeas Leave a Comment

Giving birth to your child may be the most amazing feeling you have ever experienced in life. Everyone wants to have this day as the happiest one. An expecting mother dreams of having a delivery according to plan and this makes the whole thing easier and safer. But are you confident that you are fully prepared for your big day? This frequently happens that women face lots of issues while delivery or even before and after the delivery and the main reason behind it is unconsciousness about lots of things. This makes the delivery more difficult and crazier.

We believe every mother has the right of experiencing the labor and delivery day in a safe way. That’s the reason we are trying to make them aware of the following issues that may be very little things but have a very crucial impact. So, let’s get into the details.

#1 – Not Taking a Birthing Class

People think they don’t need to learn anything for being parents. But, this is not true. If you guys are brand new parents, you should take help knowing everything probably in any sources. Nowadays, the internet has a great role in this purpose. You will find literally every piece of information about birthing. Besides, you will get several online classes that will teach you about birthing in detail.

This is not only for the mother but also both the parents. Dada should also take part in these courses. In recent times, we are suffering from a shortage of time and having this facility online saves your time a lot. Moreover, you can fix the schedule according to your routine as well.

#2 – Not Having a Birthing Plan

Another problem that we notice among mothers is the lack of plans before birthing. This is very normal that you may experience sudden labor pain and now you need to go to the hospital. In this rush, this is not possible to manage everything accordingly.

That’s why our suggestion is to make a proper plan and make some copies of the plan. Then give those copies to your nearest and dearest people who can help you when you need help on an emergency basis. You should keep noted the following things:

  • Contact information of your friends and family.
  • Your current child position.
  • Medicine name that you take for pain relief.
  • Music and environmental things that you like.
  • Photographer’s contact if you have any.
  • A list of people you want to have after birthing.
  • Breastfeeding formula.
  • Place where you want to keep your baby between the nursery and your room.
  • Your dress preferences to meet everyone after birthing.
  • Fix the date of leaving the hospital.

#3 – Not Eating or Drinking Too Much

Having a bad eating habit is one of the most common things that we found in pregnant women. People normally think that women can’t eat or drink anything when they are in labor. This is not completely true. You have all your physical strength to face the labor pain. In fact, your perfect physical condition will help you a lot to overcome this period easily.

If you are a would-be-mother, you should eat lots of healthy foods and drinks. We are saying it again “healthy foods”. Now, if you get a heavy lunch with a double-decker burger, this is not good for your labor. We are suggesting you have healthy snacks and drinks. But, do not fill your stomach with unhygienic food.

#4 – Not Resting and Relaxing

This is true that labor will feel strained and you can’t relax at this time. But, it is scientifically proven that being calm and relaxed while birthing reduces labor pain. It also helps your baby to get in the right position. So try to take as much rest as possible and make sure you are not taking any stress. Though being relaxed is tough when you are suffering from labor pain, there are some ways to reduce your pain and anxiety. Your partner can help you with these things.

  • Meditation
  • Body Massage
  • Warm bath
  • Making the environment calm and quiet
  • Sleep

#5 – Lying Down

This is a common problem that most pregnant women do when it’s the time of delivery. Due to the sickness, they want to lay down, thinking that it would help them to relax. But this is not true at all. When you lay down, your physical position is not good for pushing out the baby. You can’t use all the strength you have in this position.

Besides, your baby may face breathing problems, as well. The best position at this time is to stand so that you can use your strength properly.

#6 – Changing Positions Too Much

Changing the position too much is another thing that women should not do. Different women prefer different positions. Some like to stand when some like to stay in bed. This is a bad thing until you want to change your position. If you want to stay on the bed after walking a while and then want to sit, this is a problem.

The first reason is that the pregnant woman is hooked up with many machines. If she moves more and more, the doctors and other supporters will face problems handling everything. Another reason is breaking the concentration. The frequent movement will distract you when you try to cooperate with the doctors at the last moment.

#7 – Trying To Hold In Your Poop

This may be a very embarrassing thing to people. But, actually, it happens in the case of every pregnant woman. When you are experiencing labor pain and trying to push the baby out, you may feel bowel movement. Most of the women try to hold their poop at this time.

But they don’t know that they are stopping the baby from coming out in this way. This makes the whole situation very complicated. So, don’t make this mistake. Mind it. The thing that is most precious in this stage is your and your baby’s life.

#8 – Having Too Many Distractions

Distraction is a big reason why you can experience complicated labor. It can hold you to give your best and delay your delivery. There are many reasons why women can be distracted while giving birth. It includes loud noise in the labor room, too many people in there, frequent pelvic exams every few minutes, too many bright lights in the labor room, etc. These things can distract you while you are in your last stage of delivery. So, make sure these things don’t happen to you.

#9 – Not Having The Right Support Team

This frequently happens that women can’t birth safely due to the lack of proper pre-delivery support. This happens more in the case of new parents. They are more anxious and have no idea what to do. So, they feel more pressure, especially the mother.

In such a situation, an experienced support team can help you a lot. They understand how to calm you and how to help you with safe birthing. So, make sure you know a proper support team before your labor and they are ready to support you.

#10 – Waiting Too Long To Request The Epidural

Epidural is a kind of injection that is given to a woman to reduce the extreme pain temporarily. It is given before the C-section surgery and also when one is suffering from extreme pain in normal delivery. You are the person who knows better than anyone about your condition while giving birth.

So, you should ask the doctors to push the epidural injection if you face unbearable pain. If you delay for a long time, anything can happen with you and, in fact, your baby.

#11 – Exerting Too Much Energy

Giving birth to a child is definitely a matter of great physical and mental effort. You have to suffer lots of pain to bring your baby into this universe and every mother is ready to bear that pain. But, to make everything hurry, women normally try a lot that may not be needed all the time.

In this way, they exert a lot of physical strength and get weak at the last moment. So, don’t hurry. Just wait for the right time.

#12 – Bad Breathing Techniques

Breathing is so relaxing when you are facing extreme labor pain. This is proven that breathing can reduce your labor pain. This also helps to reduce anxiety. It helps to keep the baby’s heart rate perfect. Like these, there are many good reasons why you should breathe properly. Just make your nose and mouth open for a full breath. It will relax you for sure.

Bottom Line

Giving birth is not easy. You may face many complexities. But, you can reduce all these things just by following some ways. You can make your delivery safer by making a perfect plan. It will help you to avoid all those common mistakes that people normally make. We believe you deserve a safe delivery and that’s our motive for talking to you today. All the best to you and your prince or maybe princess.
