The Perfect Late-Summer Table

A relaxed menu, garden clippings, and an unfussy table made for lingering after sunset.

Sunlit breakfast table with journal and wildflowers

Late summer asks very little of a table: ripe tomatoes, good bread, something cold to pour, and enough chairs for whoever appears.

Set the mood, not a performance

Use what you already have. Fold napkins loosely, cut branches from the garden, and put the food in the middle where everyone can reach it.

The best table is one that makes guests comfortable enough to stay.
